Gilteritinib Fumarate falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Baikal Skullcap interacts with.

Theoretically, Baikal skullcap might increase levels of drugs transported by P-glycoprotein.
In vitro and animal research suggests that baicalein, oroxylin A, and wogonin, constituents of Baikal skullcap, can inhibit P-glycoprotein. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Xospata (gilteritinib): your body uses a kind of cellular pump called P-glycoprotein to help move this drug around and clear some of it. Lab and animal studies hint that compounds in Baikal skullcap (baicalein, wogonin, and others) can slow that pump down. If that happened in people, slightly more gilteritinib could stay in your system, which in theory might mean more of its usual side effects, like fatigue, muscle or joint aches, nausea, swelling, or changes in your heart rhythm.

I want to be honest, though: this has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never confirmed in humans, so it's a theoretical, minor concern. Because gilteritinib is a serious leukemia treatment, please loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before adding this herb.

What Is Gilteritinib Used For?

Brand name: Xospata

Xospata (gilteritinib) is used to treat adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) — a fast-growing blood cancer — when the cancer has come back after treatment (relapsed) or stopped responding to treatment (refractory). It is only for patients whose leukemia cells carry a specific genetic change called a FLT3 mutation, which must be confirmed by an FDA-approved test before starting treatment.
