In vitro and animal research suggests that Baikal skullcap binds to GABA-A receptors and causes sedation. Theoretically, Baikal skullcap might cause additive therapeutic and adverse effects when used concomitantly with drugs with sedative properties. Preliminary clinical research has not identified clinically relevant sedation after use of Baikal skullcap; however, a thorough evaluation of safety outcomes has not been conducted.

Here's the gist with Baikal skullcap and aripiprazole (Abilify): this herb's plant compounds may gently nudge the same calming GABA receptors in your brain that promote drowsiness. Aripiprazole can already cause some sleepiness on its own, so in theory pairing the two could add up to a little extra drowsiness, grogginess, or a foggy, slowed-down feeling.

I'll be honest, though, this concern comes mostly from lab and animal studies, and human research hasn't actually shown meaningful sedation from the skullcap. So it's rated minor and unlikely. Aripiprazole isn't a prodrug here, so this isn't about the herb changing your dose levels, just a possible mild overlap in sleepiness. Still, if you notice extra tiredness, especially before driving, loop in your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.
