Here's the simple version: acebutolol already lowers your blood pressure and slows your heart rate. Baikal skullcap contains a plant compound called baicalein, and in animal studies it appeared to nudge blood pressure down too. So in theory, taking the two together could stack those effects and push your blood pressure a little too low.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, unusually tired, or notice your heartbeat feeling slow when you stand up. I want to be honest, though: this concern comes only from lab and animal research, not solid human studies, so it's more of a maybe than a sure thing. If you take acebutolol and want to try this herb, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Acebutolol Used For?

Acebutolol Hydrochloride capsules are used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults. They can be used on their own or alongside other blood pressure medications, particularly thiazide-type diuretics.

They are also used to treat ventricular premature beats — extra, out-of-rhythm heartbeats that originate in the lower chambers of the heart. Acebutolol reduces how often these abnormal beats occur, including complex patterns that can be more concerning.
