Here's the thing to know about this pairing: it isn't about how your body breaks down rabeprazole or how well it controls stomach acid. Instead, it's about your skin and sunlight. Rabeprazole is listed among medicines that can make your skin a bit more sun-sensitive, and bergamot essential oil contains a compound called bergapten that does the same thing. Put on the skin, the two could theoretically add up and leave you more likely to sunburn or get a rash.

I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how these ingredients behave, not strong real-world reports. The bergamot extract people swallow for cholesterol is a different story than the topical essential oil. Still, if you use bergamot oil on your skin, wear sunscreen and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Bergamot is a Mediterranean citrus fruit, and its standardized extract is most often used to support cholesterol and heart health, with some early but promising research. About Rabeprazole

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Brand names: Aciphex, Aciphex Sprinkle

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
