Empagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Black Tea interacts with.

Good news here: the connection between black tea and your Jardiance (empagliflozin) is pretty minor. Jardiance lowers blood sugar by helping your kidneys flush extra sugar out in your urine, and black tea doesn't really change how that medicine works in your body. So this isn't about tea making the drug stronger or weaker.

The reason it's listed at all is the caffeine and plant compounds in tea, which can nudge blood sugar slightly up or down on their own. The evidence is weak and mixed, so for most people a few cups a day won't cause trouble. If you're loading up on concentrated tea extracts or notice unusual highs or lows in your readings, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your home glucose checks.

About Empagliflozin

What Is Empagliflozin Used For?

Brand name: Jardiance

Jardiance (empagliflozin) tablets are approved for several important uses in adults. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization in adults with heart failure. It also slows the progression of chronic kidney disease by reducing the risk of serious kidney decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization. In adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, Jardiance reduces the risk of cardiovascular death.

Jardiance is also used — alongside diet and exercise — to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes in adults and children aged 10 and older. It is not recommended for blood sugar control in type 1 diabetes (it may raise the risk of a dangerous condition called diabetic ketoacidosis) or in type 2 diabetes patients with severely reduced kidney function.
