Black Tea + Minocycline
Minocycline brand names: Vectrin, Dynacin, Minocin, Minocin IV, Solodyn, and others.
Black Tea has a moderate interaction with Minocycline. Theoretically, black tea may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Minocycline
Minocycline falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Black Tea interacts with.
Black tea contains caffeine. Caffeine is reported to have antiplatelet activity. Theoretically, the caffeine in black tea might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with antiplatelet drugs. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's something worth knowing about this pairing. The interaction we have on file lumps minocycline in with blood thinners, and it suggests the caffeine in black tea might slightly increase bleeding risk. But honestly, this is a weak, theoretical concern. It comes from lab and animal studies only, and it has not been seen in real people. On top of that, minocycline itself isn't a true anticoagulant or antiplatelet drug, so the worry here is pretty thin for your situation.
For most folks, enjoying a few cups of black tea while taking minocycline for acne or an infection is fine. The bigger, more common issues with minocycline are stomach upset, dizziness, and sun sensitivity. If you're already on a real blood thinner or have a bleeding condition, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor to be safe.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Minocycline page
“This is one of the longer interaction lists I review, and with minocycline it earns real care rather than a shrug. Most entries pair this tetracycline antibiotic, taken for acne and other infections, with supplements that raise bleeding risk, and a second sizable group, beer and wine included, can add strain on the liver.”

About Black Tea
What is Black Tea?
- Mental alertness and energy
- Heart health support
- Blood pressure and cholesterol
- Digestive complaints
- Weight management
- Antioxidant support
Black tea is a popular caffeinated drink made from the fully oxidized leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, and it contains caffeine and antioxidant plant compounds. Moderate tea drinking is generally safe for most adults and may modestly support heart health and alertness, but it is not a proven treatment for any disease. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, sensitive to caffeine, or taking medicines, talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
