ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin Lispro Recombinant
Insulin Lispro Recombinant falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Black Tea interacts with.
Black tea contains caffeine. Reports claim that caffeine might increase or decrease blood sugar levels. Also, some evidence in healthy individuals suggests that drinking black tea reduces blood sugar.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the short version: this is a pretty minor concern. Insulin lispro (Humalog) is a fast-acting mealtime insulin that lowers your blood sugar directly, and black tea isn't going to change how that insulin works in any major way. The idea on file is just that tea's caffeine and plant compounds might nudge blood sugar a little, sometimes up, sometimes down, and this is based on weak evidence in healthy people.
Practically speaking, a cup or two of tea with your usual routine is unlikely to cause trouble. The thing to watch for is the same as always with insulin: signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, or feeling lightheaded. If you drink a lot of tea daily or notice unusual swings in your readings, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can check.

This page covers Black Tea only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Insulin Lispro Recombinant page lists 242 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Chelation Therapy Products (major), Siberian Cocklebur (major), Acai (moderate), African Wild Potato (moderate) and Agaricus Mushroom (moderate).
By severity: 2 major · 211 moderate · 29 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Insulin Lispro Recombinant page
“Two of the 242 entries here rate major, and they are the place to start. Siberian cocklebur has caused severe hypoglycemia, and chelation products containing EDTA can drop blood glucose steeply while also interfering with the insulin itself, so neither belongs anywhere near insulin lispro (Humalog KwikPen).”

Black tea is a popular caffeinated drink made from the fully oxidized leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, and it contains caffeine and antioxidant plant compounds.
