Dimenhydrinate falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Boxwood interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that boxwood extract can inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity. Theoretically, concurrent use of anticholinergic drugs and boxwood might decrease the effectiveness of boxwood or the anticholinergic agent.

Here's the simple version. Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) is an antihistamine that also has anticholinergic activity, meaning it dampens a body chemical called acetylcholine. That's part of how it calms motion sickness and the nausea, dizziness, and queasiness that come with it. Boxwood, on the other hand, has been shown in lab dish studies to do the opposite, boosting acetylcholine by blocking the enzyme that breaks it down.

So in theory, the two could work against each other and slightly blunt the benefit you'd get from your Dramamine. I want to stress this is only test-tube evidence, not something proven in people, so don't be alarmed. Given the real toxicity concerns with boxwood, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Dimenhydrinate is used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness. It is available in several products — including Dramamine, Dramamine Original Formula, Gravol, Driminate, Airmit Ace, and others — all sharing this same core use.

Dimenhydrinate Injection is indicated specifically for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, or vertigo (spinning sensation) of motion sickness, given by intramuscular or intravenous route in medical settings.
