Gliclazide falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Camphor interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of camphor with other hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage.
There have been a few case reports of transient elevations in liver enzymes in adults after oral or topical use of camphor. There has also been one case of hepatotoxicity in an infant after topical camphor use.

Here's the gist with gliclazide, your diabetes pill that lowers blood sugar by helping your body release more insulin. The concern with camphor isn't about how the camphor changes your gliclazide levels or how strongly it works. Instead, the worry is that both can be hard on the liver, and using them together might add a little extra strain.

Honestly, this is a theoretical concern only. There are just a handful of reports of camphor briefly bumping up liver enzymes. When you use a camphor rub on your skin in normal amounts, very little gets absorbed, so the risk is low. Never swallow camphor, though, since it's toxic by mouth. If you have liver problems or notice yellowing skin, dark urine, or belly pain, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

Camphor is a strong-smelling compound from the camphor tree (or made synthetically) that is used in many topical rub-on products for muscle aches, itching, and chest congestion.
