Teclistamab-cqyv falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Camphor interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of camphor with other hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage.
There have been a few case reports of transient elevations in liver enzymes in adults after oral or topical use of camphor. There has also been one case of hepatotoxicity in an infant after topical camphor use.

Here's the simple version: Tecvayli (teclistamab) is a treatment for multiple myeloma that can, on its own, put some stress on the liver and raise liver enzyme levels. Camphor, the cooling ingredient in many muscle and chest rubs, has rarely been linked to brief bumps in liver enzymes too. So the worry here is just adding two things that can each nudge the liver in the wrong direction.

I want to be clear that this is theoretical and based mostly on pharmacology and a handful of case reports, not solid proof. Using a small amount of camphor rub on your skin as directed is unlikely to be a real problem, and the danger is far greater if camphor is swallowed (never do that). Still, since your liver is already being watched on this medicine, mention any camphor products to your oncology team or pharmacist first.

What Is Teclistamab-cqyv Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tecvayli

Tecvayli (teclistamab-cqyv) injection is used to treat adults with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma — a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow — whose disease has come back or stopped responding to earlier treatments.

Tecvayli is approved in two settings: as monotherapy for patients who have received at least four prior lines of therapy (including a proteasome inhibitor, an immunomodulatory agent, and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody); and in combination with daratumumab and hyaluronidase-fihj for patients who have received at least one prior line of therapy including a proteasome inhibitor and an immunomodulatory agent.
