Brentuximab Vedotin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Cannabidiol (cbd) interacts with.

Cannabidiol may increase levels of drugs that are metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro and animal research shows that cannabidiol inhibits CYP3A4. In human studies and case reports, cannabidiol has been associated with an increase in plasma levels of the CYP3A4 substrates zonisamide, tacrolimus, everolimus, citalopram, midazolam, and methadone.

Here's the situation with Adcetris (brentuximab vedotin) and CBD. This medicine releases a potent payload called MMAE that your body clears partly through a liver enzyme known as CYP3A4. CBD can slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that could let more of the active drug linger in your system, which may mean a higher chance of side effects like nerve tingling or numbness in the hands and feet (neuropathy), low blood counts, fatigue, nausea, or infections.

To be fair, this concern comes from how the enzyme behaves rather than direct studies of CBD plus this exact chemo. Still, with a serious cancer treatment, it's not worth guessing. Please check with your oncology team or pharmacist before using any CBD product so they can keep an eye on your counts and symptoms.

About Brentuximab Vedotin Injection

What Is Brentuximab Vedotin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Adcetris

Adcetris (brentuximab vedotin) is used to treat classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) in adults — including newly diagnosed advanced-stage disease, as consolidation therapy after a stem cell transplant, and in relapsed or refractory cases. It is also approved for pediatric patients aged 2 and older with previously untreated high-risk classical Hodgkin lymphoma, given in combination with chemotherapy.

Adcetris is also used for several T-cell lymphomas — including systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (sALCL), peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCL), primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (pcALCL), and CD30-expressing mycosis fungoides (MF). Additionally, Adcetris is used in combination with lenalidomide and a rituximab product for adults with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) who are not candidates for a stem cell transplant or CAR T-cell therapy.
