Cannabidiol (cbd) + Flibanserin
Flibanserin brand name: Addyi.
Flibanserin falls into 3 drug categories that Cannabidiol (cbd) can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, cannabidiol might have additive effects if used with other CNS depressants.

These two interact in 3 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 3 Interactions?
Cannabidiol (cbd) interacts with whole categories of medication. Flibanserin falls into 3 of those categories, so it can interact with Cannabidiol (cbd) in 3 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CNS DEPRESSANTS
1 of 3Why this applies to Flibanserin
Flibanserin falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Cannabidiol (cbd) interacts with.
Preliminary clinical research, case reports, and animal studies suggest that high dose cannabidiol has sedative and hypnotic effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of cannabidiol with drugs with sedative and anesthetic properties may cause additive therapeutic and adverse effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Addyi (flibanserin) and CBD: both can have a calming, sedating effect on the brain, so taking them together may stack that effect. The concern is feeling extra drowsy, dizzy, or lightheaded, and flibanserin already carries a real risk of low blood pressure and fainting, especially if you stand up too fast. Adding CBD could nudge those effects a little further.
I'll be honest, this is a theoretical caution based on how each one works, not strong proof, and high CBD doses matter more than tiny amounts. Flibanserin isn't a prodrug, so CBD isn't blocking its activation. Still, please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, particularly since alcohol is also a known no-go with this medicine.

CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES
2 of 3Flibanserin also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES.
Research shows that cannabidiol inhibits CYP2C19. In clinical studies and case reports, cannabidiol use resulted in significant increases in the serum levels of topiramate, methadone, citalopram, omeprazole, and N-desmethylclobazam, the primary active metabolite of clobazam. These chemicals are metabolized by CYP2C19. Concomitant use of cannabidiol with CYP2C19 substrates may increase the risk for adverse effects from these substrates.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the short version: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2C19 to help clear flibanserin (Addyi). CBD slows that enzyme down, so flibanserin can build up higher than expected in your system. Flibanserin is an active drug, not a prodrug, so more of it sticking around means a stronger effect and a bigger chance of side effects.
With Addyi, the side effects we'd watch for are dizziness, drowsiness or sleepiness, low blood pressure, and even fainting, especially when you stand up. Those risks already climb with alcohol, so adding CBD on top is worth a real conversation. Please don't stop or change either one on your own. Check with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can guide you safely.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
3 of 3Flibanserin also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro and animal research shows that cannabidiol inhibits CYP3A4. In human studies and case reports, cannabidiol has been associated with an increase in plasma levels of the CYP3A4 substrates zonisamide, tacrolimus, everolimus, citalopram, midazolam, and methadone.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist for Addyi (flibanserin): your liver leans on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear this medicine out of your system. CBD can slow that enzyme down, so flibanserin may build up higher than expected. This isn't a prodrug situation, so more drug in your blood means a stronger effect, and that's where the concern lies.
With flibanserin, the side effects to watch are dizziness, sleepiness, nausea, and especially low blood pressure or even fainting, which can get worse if levels climb. The signal here is real (good-quality human data on similar drugs), so please don't pair these on your own. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor first so they can decide if it's safe for you.
