Why this applies to Maprotiline

Maprotiline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Cannabidiol (cbd) interacts with.

Theoretically, cannabidiol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that cannabidiol inhibits CYP2D6. Theoretically, concomitant use of cannabidiol with CYP2D6 substrates might increase the risk for adverse effects from these substrates. However, a clinical crossover trial in healthy adults shows that cannabidiol does not inhibit dextromethorphan, a substrate of CYP2D6.

Here's the deal with pairing CBD and your maprotiline. Maprotiline gets cleared from your body partly by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. In lab (test tube) studies, CBD appears to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, maprotiline could build up a bit and you might notice more of its usual side effects, things like dry mouth, drowsiness, constipation, blurry vision, dizziness when standing, or a faster heartbeat.

I want to keep this in perspective, though. This warning is theoretical, based on lab work, and a human study actually found CBD didn't block CYP2D6 for another drug it handles. So a real problem is far from certain. Still, since maprotiline can affect heart rhythm and seizure threshold, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them. Don't change anything on your own.
