Here's the simple version: amiloride is a 'water pill' that helps lower blood pressure and hold onto potassium. Casein peptides, the milk-derived fragments in some supplements, may gently nudge blood pressure down on their own. Stack the two together and those small effects can add up, so your pressure could dip a little lower than expected.

What might that feel like? Things like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, or feeling unusually tired. The research behind casein peptides is modest and lower quality, so for many people this is a mild concern, not an emergency. Still, if you take amiloride, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a casein peptide supplement, and don't change your medicine on your own.

About Amiloride

What Is Amiloride Used For?

Brand names: Midamor, Amilamont

Amiloride is used together with other diuretics (water pills) to treat congestive heart failure and high blood pressure (hypertension). It is added to a thiazide or similar diuretic to either restore low potassium levels or prevent them from dropping dangerously in the first place.

It is especially useful for people who are at particular risk if their potassium falls too low — for example, those taking digoxin or those with significant heart rhythm problems. Amiloride is rarely used on its own, as its diuretic and blood-pressure-lowering effects are weak compared with other diuretics.
