Here's the thing to know about pairing casein peptides with benazepril (Lotensin). Benazepril is an ACE inhibitor, meaning it lowers your blood pressure by blocking that same ACE enzyme. Some casein peptides (the lactotripeptides IPP and VPP) appear to nudge that enzyme too, so the two can pull in the same direction and lower your pressure a little more than expected.

In real life this usually means a mild add-on effect, but it could leave you feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or woozy when you stand up. The evidence here is modest and the blood pressure drop from these peptides tends to be small. Still, if you want to try a casein peptide supplement, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your home blood pressure readings.

What Is Benazepril Used For?

Brand name: Lotensin

Benazepril — sold as Lotensin and under the generic names Benazepril and Benazepril Hydrochloride — is approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks.

It can be used on its own or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when blood pressure needs extra control. Lotensin is specifically indicated for the treatment of hypertension to lower blood pressure.
