Theoretically, combining these casein peptides with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Clinical research shows that some casein peptides, including the lactotripeptides isoleucine-proline-proline (IPP) and valine-proline-proline (VPP), can modestly reduce blood pressure in patients with hypertension.

Here's the simple version: nifedipine already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Casein peptides may nudge your blood pressure down a little too, partly by gently blocking ACE, an enzyme that helps control pressure. Stack the two together and the effects can add up.

This isn't about the supplement changing how your body breaks nifedipine down. It's more of an additive push in the same direction. For most people the extra drop is mild, but it could leave you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, flushed, or tired, especially when you stand up quickly. The blood pressure evidence for casein peptides is fairly modest. Still, if you want to try them, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your readings.

What Is Nifedipine Used For?

Brand names: Procardia XL, Adalat PA, Adalat, Nifedin, Nifed PA, Nifed, Procardia, Adalat XL, Adalat CC, Adalat LA, Adalat Retard, Adipine MR, Adipine XL, Cardilate MR, Coracten SR, Coracten XL, Fortipine LA 40, Hypolar Retard 20, Nifedipress MR, Nifopress Retard, Tensipine MR

Nifedipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension), chronic stable angina (chest pain brought on by physical effort), and vasospastic angina (chest pain caused by spasm of the coronary arteries, sometimes called Prinzmetal's angina). Lowering blood pressure with nifedipine helps reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks.

The capsule form is approved for vasospastic angina and chronic stable angina only — it is not approved for high blood pressure. The extended-release tablet (including Procardia) covers all three uses: vasospastic angina, chronic stable angina, and high blood pressure.
