Clinical research shows that some casein peptides, including the lactotripeptides isoleucine-proline-proline (IPP) and valine-proline-proline (VPP), can modestly reduce blood pressure in patients with hypertension.

Here's the simple version: valsartan (Diovan) already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Casein peptides, especially the lactotripeptides IPP and VPP, may gently nudge blood pressure down too, partly by acting on a similar pathway your body uses to control pressure. So when you stack them together, the effects can add up.

Valsartan is not a prodrug, so this isn't about how it's broken down. It's just two blood-pressure-lowering things working in the same direction. The evidence here is modest, but if your pressure drops too low you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or tired, especially when standing up. Tiny amounts in food rarely matter, but concentrated supplements could. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding them.

About Valsartan

What Is Valsartan Used For?

Brand names: Diovan, Prexxartan

Valsartan is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children, heart failure in adults, and to lower the risk of cardiovascular death in adults who have had a heart attack and have reduced heart function. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

Diovan (valsartan) tablets are approved to treat high blood pressure in children as young as 1 year old. Valsartan tablets (generic) are approved for children 6 years and older. Valsartan oral solution is specifically indicated for patients with heart failure or post-heart attack left ventricular dysfunction who are unable to swallow tablets.
