Amitriptyline falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyll interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyll with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. In two case reports, pseudoporphyria developed after oral intake of chlorophyll. Theoretically, concomitant use with other photosensitizing drugs may exacerbate this effect.

Here's the simple version: this isn't about how your body breaks down amitriptyline. Instead, both amitriptyline and chlorophyll can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Put them together and that sun sensitivity could add up, meaning you might sunburn faster or get a rash on sun-exposed skin more easily than usual.

I want to be honest about how strong this is. The chlorophyll piece comes from just a couple of case reports and theory, not solid proof, so for most people it's a mild, manageable concern rather than something scary. If you take both, just be sun-smart: use sunscreen, wear a hat, and cover up outdoors. If you notice unusual redness or blistering, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
