ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Iloprost
Iloprost falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Coconut Water interacts with.
Preliminary clinical research shows that drinking coconut water might lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Iloprost (Ventavis) is an inhaled medicine that widens your blood vessels to ease the pressure in your lungs. One of its known effects is that it can also lower your overall blood pressure a bit. Coconut water, in some early research, may gently lower blood pressure too. So in theory, sipping a lot of coconut water alongside iloprost could add up and nudge your pressure down more than expected.
If that happened, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, flushed, or faint, especially when standing up. To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how each one works, not a proven problem, and an occasional glass is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, if you drink it regularly, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your readings.

- Hydration
- Rehydration after exercise

Coconut water is a natural drink rich in potassium and other electrolytes that many people use for hydration, especially around exercise.
