Coconut Water + Acetaminophen
Acetaminophen brand names: Tylenol Ex Strength, Children's Tylenol, Tylenol, Children's Tylenol Meltaways.
We found no known interaction between Coconut Water and Acetaminophen in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Coconut Water and Acetaminophen
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Acetaminophen and Coconut Water in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Why No Interaction Is Listed for Acetaminophen
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Acetaminophen is filed under 8 classifications — including cytochrome p450 2e1 (cyp2e1) substrates, glucuronidated drugs, cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) substrates. Coconut Water has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being antihypertensive drugs (moderate), quinolone antibiotics (moderate) and antidiabetes drugs (minor) — and none of Acetaminophen’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. From our pharmacist’s overview on the Acetaminophen page
“Acetaminophen (Tylenol) feels harmless because it sits on every shelf, but this list deserves real attention, mostly because of your liver. Of the 155 supplements and herbs on file, five carry a major rating, and the largest serious group, 38 ingredients, adds liver strain on top of acetaminophen's own well-known potential to harm the…”

- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Coconut Water
What is Coconut Water?
- Hydration
- Rehydration after exercise
- Electrolyte replacement
- General wellness drink
- Blood pressure support
Coconut water is a natural drink rich in potassium and other electrolytes that many people use for hydration, especially around exercise. For most healthy people it is a safe, tasty beverage, but it is not a proven medicine and should not replace medical electrolyte solutions for serious dehydration. People with kidney disease or those on potassium-affecting medicines should check with their pharmacist or doctor first.
Cocos nucifera · Arecaceae · Liquid (water) from young green coconuts · Fresh from young coconuts, bottled or canned drinks, powders
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Coconut Water is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Coconut Water record says about it on its own.
Coconut Water: dosing
There is no official or standardized medical dose for coconut water—it is a food and beverage, not a regulated medicine. Most people simply drink one serving (about 8 to 12 ounces) as they would any other drink. If you are using a packaged product, follow the serving size on the label and check the sodium, sugar, and potassium content.

Acetaminophen Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Acetaminophen as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Coconut Water — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
