DIURETIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Caffeine, Potassium Salicylate, Salicylamide
Caffeine, Potassium Salicylate, Salicylamide falls under DIURETIC DRUGS — the group Corn Silk interacts with.
Clinical research shows that taking corn silk extract increases urine volume and promotes the urinary excretion of sodium and potassium. Some patients may require electrolyte supplementation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with a product like Trim-Elim. It pairs caffeine with salicylates (aspirin-like ingredients), and caffeine has a mild fluid-flushing, diuretic-type effect. Corn silk is also used traditionally as a gentle diuretic, and some research suggests it can raise urine output and push more sodium and potassium out of the body. So when you stack the two, you may lose a bit more fluid and salt than you'd expect.
This is more of a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not a documented disaster, so I don't want you to panic. Still, watch for signs like lightheadedness, muscle cramps, weakness, or an off-feeling heartbeat. If you take them together regularly, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
