Dexchlorpheniramine falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Datura Wrightii interacts with.

Datura wrightii contains atropine and scopolamine, as well as other tropane alkaloids with anticholinergic activity. Concomitant use of Datura wrightii with anticholinergic drugs might increase anticholinergic effects and adverse effects. Some anticholinergic drugs include amantadine, atropine, belladonna alkaloids, phenothiazines, scopolamine, and tricyclic antidepressants.

Here's the simple version: dexchlorpheniramine is an older antihistamine that already has its own drying, anticholinergic side. Datura wrightii is packed with tropane alkaloids (atropine, scopolamine, hyoscyamine) that block the very same acetylcholine system. Stack the two and those effects can pile up. So you'd be more likely to see a dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, a racing heart, and on the mental side, drowsiness, confusion, or even hallucinations.

To be straight with you, this concern is based on how these compounds work rather than firm studies, so it's theoretical. But honestly, the bigger issue is the datura itself, which is genuinely poisonous and not safe to take at all. Please skip it, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything with this medicine.

Chlorpheniramine is used to temporarily relieve common allergy symptoms caused by hay fever (allergic rhinitis) or other upper respiratory allergies. These include runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

These uses are supported across multiple products — including tablets (such as Aller-chlor, Allergy, Allergy Relief, Allergy Time, Anti Allergy, and Chlorpheniramine Maleate), extended-release tablets (Allergy Relief and Chlorphen-12), the oral solution Ed Chlorped Jr, and the inhalers ClorRelief and ClorRelief KIDs.
