Datura wrightii causes respiratory depression. Concomitant use of Datura wrightii with anesthetics might have additive respiratory depressant effects, which can be fatal.

First, the big picture: Datura wrightii is genuinely poisonous and not something to take at all. But here is the specific concern with sevoflurane. Sevoflurane is the gas anesthetic your anesthesia team uses to keep you asleep during surgery, and one of its main effects is slowing your breathing. Datura's tropane alkaloids (atropine-like compounds) can also depress breathing.

Put together, the worry is that these two could add up and push your breathing too low while you are sedated, which in a worst case can be life-threatening. To be fair, this is based on anecdotal reports, not strong studies, so the certainty is limited. Still, never use datura, and always tell your anesthesia team about every herb or supplement before any procedure.
