Trospium falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Datura Wrightii interacts with.

Datura wrightii contains atropine and scopolamine, as well as other tropane alkaloids with anticholinergic activity. Concomitant use of Datura wrightii with anticholinergic drugs might increase anticholinergic effects and adverse effects. Some anticholinergic drugs include amantadine, atropine, belladonna alkaloids, phenothiazines, scopolamine, and tricyclic antidepressants.

Here's the simple version: your Trospium (Sanctura) already works by blocking acetylcholine to calm an overactive bladder. Datura wrightii is loaded with the same kind of compounds, atropine and scopolamine, that block that very system. So putting the two together is like pressing on the same brake twice. The concern is stacking these anticholinergic effects.

If that happens, you could see more of the side effects you might already notice from Trospium, just stronger: dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, fast heartbeat, and even confusion or overheating. This warning is based on how these drugs work rather than hard studies, but I'd take it seriously because Datura is genuinely poisonous and not a safe supplement at all. Please don't use it, and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Trospium Used For?

Brand names: Sanctura, Trosec, Regurin

Trospium — available as tablets and extended-release capsules — is used to treat overactive bladder (OAB). It targets three main symptoms: the sudden, hard-to-control urge to urinate (urgency), leaking urine when that urge hits (urge urinary incontinence), and needing to urinate much more often than usual (urinary frequency).

Both Trospium Chloride Tablets and Trospium Chloride Extended-Release Capsules carry this indication. Your prescriber will choose the formulation that fits your schedule and health history.
