Let me start with the big picture: Datura wrightii is genuinely dangerous and shouldn't be taken at all. It's poisonous, not a real supplement. So mixing it with anything is a bad idea before we even get to bupivacaine. Bupivacaine (Xaracoll) is a local anesthetic, often used to numb an area during or after surgery. It isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about your body activating or clearing it differently.

The concern here is overlap, not metabolism. Datura's tropane alkaloids can slow breathing, and anesthetics can too. Stacked together, that could add up to dangerous breathing problems. Honestly, this is based on weak, anecdotal evidence, but the stakes are high. Please tell your surgeon and pharmacist about any plant or supplement use beforehand.
