Pazopanib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the gist with DHEA and your pazopanib (Votrient). Pazopanib is cleared from your body mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. There is some early, fairly weak evidence that DHEA might slow that enzyme down a bit. If it does, pazopanib could build up to higher levels than intended, which in theory could mean stronger side effects like high blood pressure, fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, or changes in your liver tests.

I want to be honest though: this is mostly theoretical and based on thin, anecdotal evidence, so we don't really know how much it matters in real life. Pazopanib is a serious cancer drug, so please don't add or stop DHEA on your own. Run it by your oncologist or pharmacist first so they can keep an eye on you.

Here's the gist for combining DHEA with pazopanib (Votrient). Pazopanib already comes with its own bleeding risk, since this kind of cancer medicine can affect blood vessels and platelets and may lead to nosebleeds, easy bruising, or, less commonly, more serious bleeding. The concern on file is that DHEA may make platelets a little less sticky, so stacking the two could theoretically nudge that bleeding risk higher.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is mostly lab and limited human data, so it's a theoretical caution, not a proven danger. Still, with a drug like pazopanib I'd play it safe. Please don't start or stop anything on your own talk with your oncologist or pharmacist first so they can weigh in for your situation.

What Is Pazopanib Used For?

Brand name: Votrient

Pazopanib tablets — sold as the brand Votrient and as generic pazopanib — are used to treat two types of advanced cancer in adults: advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the most common form of kidney cancer, and advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) in patients who have already received prior chemotherapy.

Important limitation: Pazopanib has not been shown to work in adipocytic soft tissue sarcoma (a subtype involving fat cells) or in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), so it is not used for those cancers.
