Trabectedin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Dhea interacts with.

Theoretically, DHEA might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some preliminary evidence shows that DHEA may inhibit CYP3A4; however, the clinical significance of this potential interaction is not known.

Here's the gist with Yondelis (trabectedin): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break this chemo down and clear it from your body. There's some early, mostly lab-based evidence that DHEA may slow that enzyme. If it does, trabectedin could clear a bit more slowly and build up, which in theory could mean stronger side effects like nausea, fatigue, low blood counts (raising infection and bleeding risk), or liver strain.

I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal data, so we don't really know if it matters in real people. Since trabectedin is a serious chemo drug, please don't add DHEA on your own. Run it by your oncologist or pharmacist first.

What Is Trabectedin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Yondelis

Yondelis (trabectedin injection) is used to treat adults with liposarcoma or leiomyosarcoma — two types of soft tissue sarcoma (cancer of connective tissue) — when the cancer cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable) or has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic). It is indicated for patients who have already received a prior treatment regimen containing an anthracycline (a type of chemotherapy).
