Valsartan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Diosmin interacts with.

Theoretically, diosmin might inhibit the metabolism of CYP2C9 substrates.
Diclofenac is metabolized by CYP2C9 enzymes. Clinical and laboratory research shows that diosmin inhibits the metabolism of diclofenac. A pharmacokinetic study in humans shows that taking diosmin (Venex 500) 500 mg daily for 9 days prior to oral administration of diclofenac 100 mg increases blood levels of diclofenac and decreases diclofenac clearance.

Here's the gist for valsartan and diosmin. Diosmin may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9, and valsartan is partly handled by that same enzyme. So in theory, diosmin could let a little more valsartan linger in your system. Valsartan isn't a prodrug, meaning it works as-is, so more of it on board would tend to nudge its effects a bit stronger. That could show up as extra blood-pressure lowering, with dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling tired, especially when you stand up quickly.

That said, this is only a theoretical concern based on how the drugs are processed, not from real-world reports with valsartan itself. It's a good idea to mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your blood pressure, but you don't need to panic.

Diosmin is a citrus-derived flavonoid most often used for vein-related problems such as chronic venous insufficiency and hemorrhoids, and it is usually combined with a related flavonoid called hesperidin. Some studies suggest it may help relieve leg swelling and hemorrhoid symptoms, but quality varies. What Is Valsartan Used For?

Brand names: Diovan, Prexxartan

Valsartan treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children, heart failure in adults, and reduces the risk of cardiovascular death in adults who have had a heart attack and have a weakened heart muscle. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

Diovan (valsartan) tablets are approved to treat high blood pressure in children as young as 1 year old. Valsartan tablets (other brands) are approved for children 6 years and older. Valsartan oral solution is specifically indicated for patients with heart failure or post-heart attack left ventricular dysfunction who are unable to swallow tablets.
