Here's the simple version: Ramelteon (Rozerem) is a sleep aid that nudges the same brain signals your body uses to feel drowsy at night. Elecampane is an old folk herb for coughs, and some lab work hints it may have a mild calming, sedative quality of its own. Put the two together and the worry is that the relaxing effects could stack up.

If that happens, you might feel groggier, more drowsy the next morning, or a bit unsteady or foggy. I want to be honest, though: this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave, not on solid human studies. Ramelteon isn't a prodrug, so it doesn't get switched on by the herb. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
