Here's an interesting wrinkle with this pairing. Dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) does the opposite of most diabetes medicines. You only reach for it during a true emergency, when blood sugar has crashed dangerously low. It works fast to pull stored sugar out of your liver and push your sugar back up.

The concern on file is that eyebright might nudge blood sugar down a little, based only on animal studies, so the real-world evidence here is very thin. In theory, anything that lowers sugar could work against the rescue effect you need from dasiglucagon. Practically, though, this rescue shot is far more powerful than any mild herb. It's still smart to mention any supplements to your doctor or pharmacist, especially since eyebright has weak proof and other safety questions.

What Is Dasiglucagon Injection Used For?

Brand name: Zegalogue

Zegalogue (dasiglucagon) is used to treat severe hypoglycemia — dangerously low blood sugar — in adults and children aged 6 years and older who have diabetes. It is a rescue medication meant to be used in emergencies when a person cannot eat or drink to raise their blood sugar on their own.

Zegalogue is available as a subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection and is given by a caregiver or the patient themselves as soon as severe hypoglycemia is recognized. Emergency medical help should be called immediately after using it.
