Here's the thing to know if you're using Symlin (pramlintide) alongside eyebright. Pramlintide already works hard to keep blood sugar in check, since you take it with mealtime insulin to slow how fast food leaves your stomach. The concern on file is that eyebright might nudge blood sugar a little lower too. Stack that on top of pramlintide and insulin, and in theory you could be more likely to dip into low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), with symptoms like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or a racing heart.

That said, this is a weak, theoretical signal. It comes only from animal studies, not from people. Pramlintide isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about how it's broken down. Still, since low blood sugar can be serious, check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Brand name: Symlin

SymlinPen (pramlintide) is used as an add-on treatment for adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who already use mealtime insulin but still haven't reached their target blood sugar levels — even with optimal insulin therapy.

It is not a replacement for insulin. It works alongside insulin, given right before major meals, to reduce the spike in blood sugar that happens after eating.
