Flaxseed + Cefpodoxime Proxetil
Cefpodoxime Proxetil brand name: Vantin.
Flaxseed has a moderate interaction with Cefpodoxime Proxetil. Theoretically, antibiotics might interfere with the metabolism of flaxseed constituents, which could potentially alter the effects of flaxseed.

ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Cefpodoxime Proxetil
Cefpodoxime Proxetil falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Flaxseed interacts with.
Some potential benefits of flaxseed are thought to be due to its lignan content. Secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG), a major lignan precursor, is found in high concentrations in flaxseed. SDG is converted by bacteria in the colon to the lignans enterolactone and enterodiol. Antibiotics alter the flora of the colon, which could theoretically alter the metabolism of flaxseed.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: this one runs the other way from what people usually worry about. It's not that flaxseed changes how your cefpodoxime works. Instead, the antibiotic may dampen some of flaxseed's potential benefits. The good bacteria in your colon turn flaxseed's lignans into active compounds (enterolactone and enterodiol). Since cefpodoxime kills off some of those gut bacteria, the conversion could be reduced for a while.
Honestly, this is theoretical, based on how things work on paper rather than real-world reports. Your infection treatment stays effective, and flaxseed as a food is still fine for fiber and regularity. If you take flaxseed mainly for its lignan benefits, just know that effect may dip during and shortly after your antibiotic course. Questions? Your pharmacist is happy to help.

“If you have been prescribed cefpodoxime proxetil (Vantin), an oral antibiotic, this list calls for genuine care, and activated charcoal is where to start. It is the only major-rated interaction among the 55 on file, and it can soak up the antibiotic in your gut, leaving you with less medicine than your infection needs.”
