Flaxseed + Daptomycin
Daptomycin brand names: Cubicin, Dapzura RT.
Flaxseed has a moderate interaction with Daptomycin. Theoretically, antibiotics might interfere with the metabolism of flaxseed constituents, which could potentially alter the effects of flaxseed.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Daptomycin
Daptomycin falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Flaxseed interacts with.
Some potential benefits of flaxseed are thought to be due to its lignan content. Secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG), a major lignan precursor, is found in high concentrations in flaxseed. SDG is converted by bacteria in the colon to the lignans enterolactone and enterodiol. Antibiotics alter the flora of the colon, which could theoretically alter the metabolism of flaxseed.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with daptomycin (Cubicin) and flaxseed: this one isn't about daptomycin building up or weakening in your body. It works the other way around. Flaxseed's lignans only become their active form after friendly bacteria in your colon transform them. Since daptomycin is an antibiotic, it can shift those gut bacteria, so theoretically you might get a little less of flaxseed's potential lignan benefit while you're on treatment.
Keep in mind this is purely theoretical, based on how things work on paper, not on real-world reports. Daptomycin itself stays just as effective for your infection, and flaxseed as a food (sprinkled on oatmeal, for example) is unlikely to be a problem. If you take concentrated flaxseed for a specific reason, run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Daptomycin page
“Every one of the 27 supplement interactions on file for daptomycin (Cubicin, Dapzura RT) tells the same story. It is a potent IV antibiotic used for serious infections such as MRSA, and like any antibiotic it can kill the live organisms in probiotic supplements and fermented milk products, blunting their benefit rather than the drug's.”

About Flaxseed
What is Flaxseed?
- Constipation and digestive health
- High cholesterol
- Heart health
- Menopausal symptoms
- Blood sugar support
Flaxseed is a nutritious food rich in fiber, omega-3 fats (ALA), and plant compounds called lignans. It is most reliably helpful for constipation and may modestly lower cholesterol, but evidence for many other uses is mixed or limited. It is generally safe as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it as a supplement, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
About Daptomycin Injection
What Is Daptomycin Injection Used For?
Brand names: Cubicin, Dapzura RT
Daptomycin injection is used to treat complicated skin and skin structure infections (cSSSI) caused by specific gram-positive bacteria — including MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) — in adults and children ages 1 to 17. It is also used to treat Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections (bacteremia) in adults and children ages 1 to 17, including adult patients with right-sided infective endocarditis (a serious infection of the heart's inner lining).
Important limits: daptomycin injection is not approved for pneumonia or for left-sided infective endocarditis due to S. aureus. It is also not recommended for infants under 1 year of age due to potential risks to the muscular and nervous systems seen in animal studies.
