Garcinia + Dantrolene
Dantrolene brand names: Dantrium, Dantrium Intravenous.
Garcinia has a moderate interaction with Dantrolene. Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Dantrolene
Dantrolene falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.
There have been reports of acute hepatitis with elevated liver enzymes associated with garcinia, when taken alone or in combination with other ingredients. Case reports collected from the Drug Induced Liver Injury Network suggest this risk may be greater in people who carry the HLA B*35:01 allele.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing Garcinia and Dantrolene: both can be tough on the liver. Dantrolene is one of the better-known muscle relaxants for causing liver strain, and some people taking it long-term develop elevated liver enzymes or, rarely, more serious liver inflammation. Garcinia has its own scattered reports of liver injury. Stacking two things that stress the same organ could, in theory, add up.
To be fair, this is a theoretical caution based on how each one behaves, not proof that combining them harms people. Garcinia doesn't change how Dantrolene works in your body. Still, watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, nausea, or unusual tiredness, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Garcinia.

“People take dantrolene (Dantrium) for muscle spasticity from multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury, and the drug already carries a boxed warning for liver injury. That is why its supplement interactions deserve genuine respect.”

About Garcinia
What is Garcinia?
- Weight loss
- Appetite suppression
- Curbing sugar and carb cravings
- Supporting metabolism
- Traditional cooking and souring agent
Garcinia is a tropical fruit whose rind contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA), widely marketed for weight loss and appetite control. The scientific evidence is weak and mixed, with most studies showing only small or no meaningful weight effects, and rare reports of liver problems raise safety concerns. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you have liver issues, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
About Dantrolene
What Is Dantrolene Used For?
Brand names: Dantrium, Dantrium Intravenous
Dantrolene sodium capsules (Dantrium, Dantrolene Sodium) are used by mouth to control spasticity — painful or disabling muscle stiffness and spasms — caused by upper motor neuron disorders such as spinal cord injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, or multiple sclerosis. They are not used for muscle spasm from arthritis or other rheumatic conditions. Oral capsules are also used before and after surgery to prevent or reduce the risk of malignant hyperthermia in patients known to be susceptible.
For an active malignant hyperthermia crisis — a sudden, dangerous overheating of the muscles triggered by certain anesthetics — the intravenous (IV) forms are given in the hospital. Dantrium Intravenous, Revonto, Ryanodex, and Dantrolene injection are all indicated to treat a malignant hyperthermia crisis and may also be given before surgery to help prevent one in high-risk patients.
