Pazopanib falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.
There have been reports of acute hepatitis with elevated liver enzymes associated with garcinia, when taken alone or in combination with other ingredients. Case reports collected from the Drug Induced Liver Injury Network suggest this risk may be greater in people who carry the HLA B*35:01 allele.

Here's the concern with pairing Garcinia and pazopanib (Votrient). Pazopanib is already well known for being tough on the liver. In fact, it carries a boxed warning about serious, sometimes fatal liver injury, and people on it get regular blood tests to watch their liver enzymes. Garcinia has its own scattered reports of liver inflammation (hepatitis). So the worry is simply that two liver stressors stacked together could raise the chance of trouble.

To be fair, this is a theoretical interaction based on how each one behaves, not solid proof. Pazopanib isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about changing how well it fights your cancer. Still, since your care team is already monitoring your liver closely, please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding Garcinia.

Pazopanib also falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS.

Theoretically, hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the main active ingredient in garcinia, might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
HCA inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. The inhibitory effect seems to be greater in platelets extracted from diabetic subjects than non-diabetic subjects.

Here's the situation with Garcinia and pazopanib (Votrient). Pazopanib is a cancer medicine that can, on its own, raise your risk of bleeding and slow how well wounds heal. Garcinia's main compound, hydroxycitric acid, has shown in lab tests that it may make platelets (the cells that help your blood clot) a little less sticky. Put those two together, and the theoretical worry is a slightly higher chance of bruising or bleeding.

I'll be honest with you, this is based only on test-tube data, not real patient cases, so it's a maybe, not a sure thing. Still, with a serious drug like pazopanib, I'd want your oncologist or pharmacist to weigh in before you add Garcinia. Watch for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums.

What Is Pazopanib Used For?

Brand name: Votrient

Pazopanib tablets — sold as the brand Votrient and as generic pazopanib — are used to treat two types of advanced cancer in adults: advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the most common form of kidney cancer, and advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) in patients who have already received prior chemotherapy.

Important limitation: Pazopanib has not been shown to work in adipocytic soft tissue sarcoma (a subtype involving fat cells) or in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), so it is not used for those cancers.
