Garcinia + Tranylcypromine
Tranylcypromine brand name: Parnate.
Garcinia has a moderate interaction with Tranylcypromine. Theoretically, combining garcinia with other serotonergic drugs might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
SEROTONERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Tranylcypromine
Tranylcypromine falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.
In one report, a patient experienced serotonin syndrome after taking garcinia extract (60% hydroxycitric acid) 1000 mg daily in combination with escitalopram 20 mg, which had been taken for a year. The patient was switched to sertraline 50 mg daily and again experienced serotonin syndrome.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to watch with this pairing. Tranylcypromine (Parnate) is an MAOI, which means it boosts serotonin and other brain chemicals. Garcinia, through its hydroxycitric acid, may nudge serotonin levels up too. Stack the two and you could push serotonin too high, raising the risk of a reaction called serotonin syndrome.
Signs to know include agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching, or feeling confused. MAOIs already require a lot of caution, so I'd be careful here. To be fair, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on a couple of anecdotal reports, not strong studies. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Garcinia, and never change your Parnate on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Tranylcypromine page
“Tranylcypromine (Parnate) belongs to the MAOI class of antidepressants, and I read its supplement list with real seriousness, since the highest-rated entries can turn dangerous quickly. The drug blocks the enzyme that normally clears tyramine, so tyramine-rich items like brewer's yeast, fermented soy, and even beer or wine can push blo…”

About Tranylcypromine
What Is Tranylcypromine Used For?
Brand name: Parnate
Tranylcypromine tablets — sold as Parnate, Tranylcypromine, and Tranylcypromine Sulfate — are used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. It is not a first-choice antidepressant; it is specifically for people who have already tried other antidepressants and have not gotten adequate relief.
Because of its serious potential side effects, strict dietary requirements, and many drug interactions, tranylcypromine is reserved for cases where other treatments have not worked. It is not approved for use in children.
