Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Lovastatin
Lovastatin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Guggul interacts with.
In vitro research shows that guggul constituents known as guggulsterones can induce CYP3A4.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist for you. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down lovastatin. Lab and animal studies hint that the active compounds in guggul (guggulsterones) may rev up that enzyme, meaning your system could clear lovastatin a little faster than usual. If that happens, you might get less cholesterol-lowering benefit, so your LDL numbers may not drop as much as you and your doctor are aiming for.
I want to be honest about the strength here: this is mostly test-tube and animal evidence, not solid human studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a sure thing. Still, since the whole point of lovastatin is protecting your heart, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Lovastatin page
“Lovastatin (Mevacor) lowers cholesterol, and the liver clears it through an enzyme called CYP3A4, which is where most of these 184 supplements collide with it. This list deserves careful attention.”

About Lovastatin
What Is Lovastatin Used For?
Brand names: Mevacor, Altocor
Lovastatin tablets are used along with a low saturated fat, low cholesterol diet when diet and other non-drug measures alone haven't done enough. The goal is to lower total and LDL cholesterol and reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease (cholesterol-related artery disease).
Lovastatin tablets are used to reduce the risk of heart attack, unstable angina and coronary revascularization procedures in people without symptomatic heart disease. They also slow the progression of coronary atherosclerosis in people with coronary heart disease. They treat primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) and are used in adolescents aged 10 to 17 with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia who meet certain criteria.

Lovastatin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Lovastatin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Guggul — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
