Henbane + Enalapril Maleate
Enalapril Maleate brand names: Vasotec, Epaned.
We found no known interaction between Henbane and Enalapril Maleate in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Henbane and Enalapril Maleate
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Enalapril Maleate and Henbane in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Enalapril Maleate
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Enalapril Maleate is filed under 5 classifications — including ace inhibitors (aceis), antihypertensive drugs, photosensitizing drugs. Henbane has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being anticholinergic drugs (major) — and none of Enalapril Maleate’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Henbane Does Interact With Other Medications
Henbane has 195 major, known drug interactions in our database — Enalapril Maleate isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Enalapril Maleate page
“Potassium is the supplement I worry about first with enalapril maleate (Vasotec, Epaned). This ACE inhibitor, used for high blood pressure and heart failure, already makes the body hold onto potassium, so adding more can raise blood levels too far, a problem called hyperkalemia.”

About Henbane
What is Henbane?
- Pain relief
- Muscle spasms and cramps
- Sleep and sedation
- Asthma and breathing problems (traditional)
- Toothache (traditional)
Henbane is a highly poisonous plant containing potent alkaloids like hyoscyamine and scopolamine, and even small amounts can cause serious or deadly poisoning. While its compounds have real medical uses, these belong in carefully controlled prescription drugs, not in self-made or self-dosed herbal products. We strongly advise against using henbane as a supplement.
Hyoscyamus niger · Solanaceae · Leaves, flowering tops, and seeds · Rarely available; historically used as dried herb, tinctures, extracts, and topical oils. Not recommended for self-use.
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Henbane is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Henbane record says about it on its own.
Henbane: dosing
There is no safe, established dose of henbane for self-use. The amount of toxic alkaloids varies widely from plant to plant and product to product, which makes safe dosing impossible at home. The medical compounds found in henbane (such as hyoscyamine and scopolamine) are only used safely as standardized prescription medicines, prepared and dosed by professionals. We do not recommend using henbane as a supplement.

About Enalapril
What Is Enalapril Used For?
Brand names: Vasotec, Epaned
Enalapril treats high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
It also treats symptomatic heart failure. It is used for asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction (a weak pumping chamber of the heart without symptoms) to slow the development of overt heart failure and reduce hospital stays for heart failure. Enalapril oral solution (including Epaned) is labeled for high blood pressure in adults and children older than one month.

Enalapril Maleate Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Enalapril Maleate as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Henbane — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
