Abiraterone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Hibiscus Sabdariffa interacts with.

Theoretically, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract might reduce the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for your Zytiga: your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear abiraterone out of your system. In lab dishes, concentrated hibiscus extract appears to slow that same enzyme down a bit. If that happened in your body, a little more abiraterone could hang around, which in theory might nudge up side effects like high blood pressure, fluid buildup and swelling, low potassium, or extra strain on your liver.

The important part: this is purely theoretical, based on test-tube work, and has never actually been seen in people. A cup of tart hibiscus tea now and then is very unlikely to matter. Still, since you're treating prostate cancer, just give your pharmacist or oncologist a heads-up before using concentrated hibiscus supplements.

Hibiscus sabdariffa is a tart, cranberry-flavored plant most often consumed as a tea, and its best-studied use is for mildly lowering blood pressure. About Abiraterone

What Is Abiraterone Used For?

Abiraterone acetate tablets are used to treat two types of advanced prostate cancer: metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC — cancer that has spread and keeps growing despite low testosterone levels) and metastatic high-risk castration-sensitive prostate cancer (CSPC — cancer that has spread but still responds to hormone-lowering treatment). It is always taken together with a corticosteroid — most products pair with prednisone, while Yonsa is specifically indicated with methylprednisolone.

All products — including Abiraterone, Abiraterone Acetate, Abirtega, Yonsa, and Zytiga — are taken by mouth as a tablet. Yonsa is approved only for metastatic CRPC, while the other products (Abiraterone, Abiraterone Acetate, Abirtega, and Zytiga) are approved for both metastatic CRPC and metastatic high-risk CSPC.
