Sparsentan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Hibiscus Sabdariffa interacts with.

Theoretically, Hibiscus sabdariffa extract might reduce the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down Sparsentan (Filspari). In a lab dish, concentrated hibiscus extract slowed this enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, your body might clear Sparsentan a little more slowly, letting it build up. With Sparsentan, that could mean more chances for things like swelling in your legs, low blood pressure, dizziness, or changes in liver tests.

The honest truth, though, is that this is theoretical. It comes only from test-tube work and hasn't been seen in actual patients, and the concern leans toward concentrated supplements rather than an occasional cup of tart hibiscus tea. Still, since Sparsentan is a closely monitored medication, mention any hibiscus supplements to your pharmacist or doctor first.
