In vitro research shows that Hibiscus sabdariffa calyx extract inhibits CYP1A2. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with hibiscus and your Tramacet (the tramadol plus acetaminophen combo). In a lab dish, hibiscus extract slowed down an enzyme called CYP1A2. The thinking is that if it slows that enzyme, a drug cleared by it might hang around a little longer. For tramadol, that could in theory mean slightly stronger effects like drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, or constipation.
But honestly, I wouldn't lose sleep over this one. This is purely a test-tube finding (graded as theoretical), and it has never actually been reported in real people. A cup or two of hibiscus tea is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated hibiscus supplements deserve a bit more caution, so just mention it to your pharmacist if you use them regularly.

Here's a little wrinkle worth knowing about this combo. The tramadol part of Tramacet is actually a prodrug for pain relief, meaning your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to convert it into its stronger pain-fighting form. Lab studies (in test tubes, not people) suggest concentrated hibiscus extract might slow that same enzyme. In theory, that could mean tramadol gets converted less, so you might get less pain relief than expected.
The good news: this is only a theoretical concern based on early lab work, and it has never actually been reported in humans. A cup or two of tart hibiscus tea is very unlikely to matter. If you're using strong hibiscus supplements regularly and feel your pain isn't well controlled, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

Here's the gist with Tramacet (tramadol plus acetaminophen) and hibiscus. In test tube studies, hibiscus extract slowed down an enzyme called CYP3A4, which helps your body break down tramadol. In theory, blocking that enzyme could let a little more tramadol linger, which might nudge up its usual effects like drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, or constipation. The acetaminophen part isn't really the concern here.
The honest truth is this has only been seen in the lab, never in actual people, so the real-world risk looks quite small. A cup or two of hibiscus tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, if you plan to use concentrated hibiscus supplements regularly, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor first.

ACETAMINOPHEN (Tylenol, others)
4 of 5There is some evidence that consuming a Hibiscus sabdariffa beverage (Zobo drink) before taking acetaminophen can decrease the elimination half-life of acetaminophen. Hibiscus sabdariffa does not seem to decrease maximum concentration or area under the curve of acetaminophen. The clinical significance of this is unknown.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Tramacet combines two pain relievers: tramadol and acetaminophen (the same active ingredient as Tylenol). The interaction on file is only about the acetaminophen half. Some small research suggests that drinking hibiscus (sometimes called a Zobo drink) before taking acetaminophen may speed up how fast your body clears it. In plain terms, the acetaminophen might not stick around quite as long, which could in theory make that part work a little less well for pain or fever.
Honestly, this is a minor and largely theoretical concern, and researchers admit the real-world impact is unknown. An occasional cup of hibiscus tea is very unlikely to matter. If you regularly use concentrated hibiscus supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist so they can keep an eye on things.

Here's the gist for your Tramacet (the tramadol plus acetaminophen combo) and hibiscus tea or extract. In lab dish studies, hibiscus slowed down an enzyme called CYP2E1. That same enzyme handles a small slice of how your body processes acetaminophen. In theory, blocking it could shift acetaminophen down a safer breakdown path, but honestly this has never been shown to cause a problem in real people.
So I wouldn't lose sleep over a cup of tart hibiscus tea. The bigger acetaminophen concern is always total daily dose, not your tea. If you're using a concentrated hibiscus supplement regularly, just give your pharmacist a heads-up so we can keep an eye on things.
