Higenamine + Oliceridine
Oliceridine brand name: Olinvyk.
Oliceridine falls into 2 drug categories that Higenamine can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Higenamine interacts with whole categories of medication. Oliceridine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Higenamine in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Oliceridine
Oliceridine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Higenamine interacts with.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Oliceridine (Olinvyk), the IV opioid used in hospitals for short-term, severe pain. Your liver clears it partly through an enzyme called CYP2D6. Lab studies suggest higenamine can block that enzyme, and when something slows the breakdown of an active opioid like this, more of the drug can linger in your system. That could mean stronger opioid effects, things like heavy drowsiness, slowed breathing, low blood pressure, nausea, or constipation.
The honest caveat: this is theoretical, seen only in test-tube research and never confirmed in real people. On top of that, higenamine itself can stir up your heart rate and blood pressure, so mixing it with an opioid isn't ideal. Since Oliceridine is given in a monitored setting, let your care team or pharmacist know about any supplements you take.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Oliceridine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes by 21%. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the situation with these two. Oliceridine (Olinvyk) is a strong IV opioid painkiller used in hospitals, and your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear it out. Higenamine has been shown in a lab dish to slow that same enzyme down by a small amount (around 21%). In theory, if that enzyme works slower, oliceridine could linger longer and hit harder.
With an opioid, stronger effects can mean more drowsiness, slowed breathing, low blood pressure, or nausea, which is why this is worth flagging. That said, this is only test-tube evidence and has never been shown to actually happen in people. Oliceridine is also given in a monitored hospital setting, so your care team can adjust it. Still, mention any supplements you take to your doctor or pharmacist.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Oliceridine page
“Oliceridine (Olinvyk) is an IV opioid used in hospitals for acute pain, and I treat its supplement list as one to respect, since eight of the 158 interactions on file rate major. Most of the list involves the liver enzymes that clear the drug: grapefruit can push oliceridine levels up and intensify side effects, while St.”

About Higenamine
What is Higenamine?
- Weight loss and fat burning
- Pre-workout energy and performance
- Appetite suppression
- Athletic stimulant
- Traditional medicine remedies
Higenamine is a plant-based stimulant compound added to many weight-loss and pre-workout supplements, but there is very little human evidence that it works and real concerns about heart and blood pressure effects. It is banned in sports by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and product labels often list inaccurate amounts, so most people should approach it with caution and talk to a pharmacist or doctor first.
About Oliceridine Injection
What Is Oliceridine Injection Used For?
Brand name: Olinvyk
Olinvyk (oliceridine) injection is approved for adults to manage acute pain that is severe enough to require an intravenous opioid analgesic. It is used only when alternative treatments are ineffective, not tolerated, or otherwise unable to provide adequate pain control.
Because of serious risks including addiction, misuse, overdose, and death, Olinvyk is reserved for situations where other pain management options are not sufficient. It is not intended for routine or chronic pain management.
