Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's something worth knowing about this pair. Tramadol is a bit unusual: your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to turn it into a stronger pain-relieving form. Higenamine, at least in lab studies, appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that happens in real people, you might actually get less pain relief from your tramadol, because less of it gets converted to the active form.

I want to be straight with you, though: this is only seen in test-tube research, not in humans, so it's mostly theoretical right now. The bigger practical concern is that higenamine is a heart stimulant that can raise heart rate and blood pressure, which isn't a great mix with any medication. Before combining these, please check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Here's the gist for tramadol. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 as one of the routes to clear tramadol. In a lab dish, higenamine slowed that enzyme down by about 21 percent. If that happened in real life, a bit more tramadol could hang around, which might mean stronger effects like extra drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, or slowed breathing.

I want to be honest though: this is only test-tube data and hasn't actually been seen in people, so it's more of a theoretical heads-up than a proven problem. On top of that, higenamine is a stimulant with its own heart and blood pressure concerns. Before you pair these, please check with your pharmacist or doctor.
