Fenoldopam falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Hoodia interacts with.

Clinical research shows that hoodia can increase blood pressure. Theoretically, concomitant use of hoodia with antihypertensive drugs might decrease the effectiveness of the antihypertensive drugs and increase the risk of hypertension. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the thing about fenoldopam: it's a powerful IV blood pressure medicine that doctors use in the hospital to bring down dangerously high blood pressure quickly. Since hoodia has been shown in some research to actually raise blood pressure, the worry is that it could work against what fenoldopam is trying to do, making it harder to get your numbers under control.

In real life, this isn't a big everyday concern for most people, because fenoldopam is given in a closely monitored hospital setting where your blood pressure is being watched constantly. The interaction here is theoretical, based on how hoodia behaves rather than proven cases. Still, it's smart to tell your care team about any supplement you take so nothing throws off your treatment.
