Inositol Nicotinate + Pravastatin Sodium
Pravastatin Sodium brand name: Pravachol.
Inositol Nicotinate has a moderate interaction with Pravastatin Sodium. Theoretically, concomitant use of inositol nicotinate and statins might increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HMG-CoA REDUCTASE INHIBITORS ("Statins")
Why this applies to Pravastatin Sodium
Pravastatin Sodium falls under HMG-CoA REDUCTASE INHIBITORS ("Statins") — the group Inositol Nicotinate interacts with.
Inositol nicotinate is metabolized to niacin in the body. Some case reports have raised concerns that niacin might increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis when combined with statins However, a significantly increased risk of myopathy has not been demonstrated in clinical trials.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Pravachol (pravastatin) and the 'no-flush' niacin in inositol nicotinate. When swallowed, this supplement slowly releases niacin, and over the years a handful of case reports raised a question about niacin plus statins possibly stressing the muscles. The worry is a rare problem called myopathy (muscle aches and weakness) and, very rarely, rhabdomyolysis, where muscle tissue breaks down and can affect the kidneys.
I want to keep this in perspective: this is theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal evidence. Large studies have not shown a clearly increased muscle risk. Pravastatin is actually one of the gentler statins on muscles too. Still, if you take both, let your pharmacist or doctor know, and flag any new, unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or dark urine rather than brushing it off.

About Inositol Nicotinate
What is Inositol Nicotinate?
- Cholesterol support
- Improving circulation
- Raynaud's phenomenon
- Intermittent claudication (leg pain with walking)
- A 'no-flush' niacin alternative
Inositol nicotinate is a 'no-flush' form of niacin marketed for cholesterol and circulation. Evidence that it works as well as regular niacin is weak and inconsistent, and it is not a proven replacement for prescription cholesterol treatment. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have liver problems or take other medicines.
About Pravastatin
What Is Pravastatin Used For?
Brand name: Pravachol
Pravastatin is used alongside a healthy diet to lower high cholesterol and triglycerides. It is also used to lower the risk of heart attack, procedures to reopen blocked heart arteries, and death from heart disease.
Pravastatin tablets are also used in children and teens ages 8 and older with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (an inherited form of high cholesterol) when diet alone has not been enough.
