Here's the gist for Synagis (palivizumab). This isn't a pill that your liver has to break down. It's a monoclonal antibody given as a shot to help protect at-risk babies and toddlers from serious RSV lung infections. So jiaogulan won't change how the body clears it the way it might with many other medicines.

The concern on file is different and, honestly, quite theoretical. Some lab and animal work hints that jiaogulan may rev up the immune system a bit. Since palivizumab works alongside the immune system, there's a thought it could nudge how this therapy performs, though we have no real proof of that in children. Bottom line: before giving any supplement to a child receiving Synagis, please run it by their pediatrician or pharmacist first.

About Palivizumab Injection

What Is Palivizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Synagis

Synagis (palivizumab) is used to prevent serious lower respiratory tract disease caused by RSV — not to treat an infection that has already started. It is given to high-risk babies and young children before and during RSV season.

Synagis is approved for infants born at 35 weeks gestation or earlier who are 6 months old or younger at the start of RSV season; children up to 24 months old with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD, a chronic lung condition) who needed medical treatment in the past 6 months; and children up to 24 months old with hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease (a heart defect that affects blood flow).
