Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Treprostinil
Treprostinil falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Jiaogulan interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that jiaogulan has antiplatelet effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's something worth knowing if you take treprostinil (Orenitram) for pulmonary hypertension. This medication does more than relax your blood vessels, it also makes platelets less likely to clump together, which can slightly raise your bleeding risk on its own. Jiaogulan appears to do something similar. Lab studies suggest its plant compounds (gypenosides) may also reduce platelet stickiness, so combining the two could, in theory, add up to a bit more bleeding tendency.
I want to be honest about the evidence though, it comes only from test-tube and animal research, not from people, so this is a theoretical concern. Still, watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums. Before adding jiaogulan, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Jiaogulan
What is Jiaogulan?
- Fatigue and stress (adaptogen)
- Blood sugar support
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Immune and general wellness
Jiaogulan is a climbing vine used in traditional Chinese medicine as an adaptogen and for heart, blood sugar, and cholesterol support. Early human and animal studies are promising for some uses like metabolism and blood pressure, but the overall evidence is still limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it, especially if you have a health condition or take medication.
About Treprostinil
What Is Treprostinil Used For?
Treprostinil treats pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) — high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. Depending on the product and route, it is used to improve exercise ability, delay disease progression, or reduce symptoms tied to physical activity. Remodulin and treprostinil injection products are also indicated for patients who need to transition away from another PAH medicine called epoprostenol.
Tyvaso, Tyvaso DPI, and Yutrepia (inhaled forms) are additionally approved to treat pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3) — lung-pressure problems caused by scarring or inflammation in the lung tissue itself. Orenitram (extended-release oral tablet) is specifically indicated to delay disease progression and improve exercise capacity in PAH.
