Ambenonium Chloride falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Khat interacts with.

Cathinone, a constituent of khat, appears to have sympathomimetic effects and can increase blood pressure and heart rate. Theoretically, combining khat with other central nervous system (CNS) stimulant drugs might increase the risk of cardiovascular toxicity. Some CNS stimulants include nicotine, cocaine, sympathomimetic amines, and amphetamines.

First, a quick clarification: ambenonium (Mytelase) isn't really a stimulant in the usual sense. It's a cholinesterase inhibitor used for myasthenia gravis, which boosts a brain and muscle chemical called acetylcholine to improve muscle strength. So this isn't a classic 'two stimulants stacking up' situation. The bigger concern here is what khat itself does.

Khat's cathinone acts like an amphetamine and can push up your heart rate and blood pressure. Layering that onto a heart that's already being influenced by a cholinergic medicine can create unpredictable strain on your cardiovascular system. This caution is theoretical, based on how the drugs work rather than solid studies. On top of that, khat is illegal in the U.S. and genuinely risky, so it shouldn't be used. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything new.
