Cathinone, a constituent of khat, appears to have sympathomimetic effects and can increase blood pressure and heart rate. Theoretically, combining khat with other central nervous system (CNS) stimulant drugs might increase the risk of cardiovascular toxicity. Some CNS stimulants include nicotine, cocaine, sympathomimetic amines, and amphetamines.

Here's the simple version: your Adderall and khat are both stimulants that rev up the same system in your body. Adderall already pushes out dopamine and norepinephrine, and khat's main chemical, cathinone, does almost the exact same thing (it's chemically close to amphetamine). Stacking two stimulants like this can pile on the effects, so you could see a higher heart rate, a real jump in blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, anxiety, and in the worst cases strain on your heart.

I'll be honest, this concern is based on how these drugs work rather than hard studies, so it's theoretical. But the direction is clear: more stimulation, not less. On top of that, khat is illegal in the U.S. and risky on its own. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything with your Adderall.
