ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Dapagliflozin
Dapagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Maitake Mushroom interacts with.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: maitake mushroom may gently lower your blood sugar on its own. Some studies in people with type 2 diabetes show its polysaccharides can nudge glucose levels down. Since dapagliflozin (Farxiga) is already working to lower your blood sugar by helping your kidneys flush out extra sugar, stacking the two could add up and push your numbers lower than expected.
This isn't about maitake changing how your body breaks down Farxiga. It's more of an additive effect. Watch for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy, especially if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea. Mushrooms in your meals are unlikely to be an issue, but concentrated supplements are stronger. Before starting one, please check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

- Immune support
- Blood sugar support in diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- General wellness and antioxidant support
Maitake is an edible mushroom long used as food and in traditional Japanese medicine, and it is being studied for possible immune, blood sugar, and blood pressure effects. The human evidence is still limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. It is generally well tolerated as food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
About Dapagliflozin
